Couples Therapy

Tired of feeling disconnected and out of sync with your partner?

Your relationship that used to be full of connection and intimacy now seems defined by constant conflict and disconnection. You feel caught in a cycle—you both want to see this relationship work and be able to get back to the kind of connection you used to feel, but just aren’t sure how to get there.

You may be worried about how these challenges are impacting your children, too. They may witness these arguments (even though you try to keep them private) and you don’t want your children growing up thinking this is how a healthy relationship looks.

When you can communicate your needs and feel heard by your partner, you can restore the connection you once had.

Every relationship has wounds of some kind—sometimes ones you have never realized or spoken about. In therapy, we can address those things in an environment where you both feel supported and then learn to communicate about them in productive and healthy ways. These communication skills can be applied to everything you and your partner face as you move into the future together.

I understand that you want to be a better partner, and you also want to feel loved and accepted for exactly who you are today. As your therapist, I’m not here to take sides; I’m here to provide a place where you both feel safe opening up and supported in this work.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

The way we exist in relationship with our partner is a reflection of how we grew up. As part of our work together, we’ll look at your childhood and relationship with your own parents—this can shed light on some of the current challenges, triggers, and wounds that you and your partner are struggling with today. With an understanding of these things, we can then work on healing and moving forward from them.

Things we can work on in couples therapy:

  • Increasing intimacy

  • Healing past wounds

  • Improving communication

  • Restoring connection

  • Decreasing conflict

  • Solidifying your relationship

Frequently asked questions about couples therapy

FAQs

  • No. If you and your partner are not able to be in the same physical location together, we can still meet. Each of you will simply join our virtual room separately. Please note that both parties must be present in the state of California in order for sessions to be held.

  • This is dependent on your relationship and your goals for therapy. The couples I work with tend to see the most change when working together for 9+ months, but this is something we will discuss throughout the course of our work together.

  • It is very important that both you and your partner feel like we will be a good fit for couples therapy. Click this link to schedule a free consultation where you can learn more about how I work, ask any questions you may have, and decide if you’d like to proceed with working together.

You don’t have to do this alone. Restoration is possible.
